Saturn and Neptune in 2025
One of the major astrological stories of this year surrounds Neptune and Saturn, as we are on the brink of writing new stories with both of them.
This year, both planets will shift between the final sign of the zodiac, Pisces, and Aries, the first sign. Similarly to what we just experienced with Pluto moving in and out of Capricorn and Aquarius over the past two years, we will cross the threshold and back again, straddling the ending of one chapter and the beginning of another.
Neptune is currently sitting at the final degree of Pisces, and therefore the final degree of the zodiac. This is an especially important degree as it's not only the anaretic degree of Pisces, but the anaretic degree of the entire zodiacal wheel. It is the final breath of
the cosmos, marking the end of a cycle in a bigger way than any other degree before it. This is the degree Neptune stationed retrograde at last year, now back for a second time, and the degree we kicked off the new Nodal cycle in back on January 11th. Yesterday the Sun visited this degree in its conjunction with Neptune, and Venus and Mercury are currently on their way back here, as well. Venus will re-enter Pisces on the 27th, and Mercury on the 29th underneath our next eclipse. Finally, Saturn will spend its own time here starting on May 12th. With such a strong activation of this degree, it's something to pay attention to. There is potent wisdom that lies here.
The Sabian symbol for this degree is "Light breaking into many colors as it passes through a prism."
However, on March 30th, Neptune will leave behind its home waters of Pisces for the firey forge of Aries. This is an initiation into something brand new, not only because it's a new sign for Neptune, but because it's also the very beginning of the zodiac. This is a rebirth for Neptune, and for all of us, that we will experience both individually and collectively. Just as the final degree of Pisces is an especially potent one, so, too, is the first, and other anaretic degree in Aries. Here we see energy in its rawest, purest form in a way we don't experience with any of the other degrees. While writing this, the Sun is currently at 0 degrees Aries, and it too will be visited by Venus and Mercury in short order.
The Sabian symbol for this degree is "A woman rises out of the water, a seal rises and embraces her."
Neptune will remain in Aries until 0ctober 22nd, spending just over six months here, and offering us a window into a brand new 14 year long cycle that will be emerging in our lives. Though Neptune will only go as far as 2 degrees Aries this time around, certainly whatever is happening in the area of your chart containing these early degrees are something to pay attention to. Wherever in your chart this is happening, something new will start to blossom. Remember that Neptune points to dreams, spirituality, creativity, love, beauty, glamour, fantasy, and idealism. It also can point to fog, illusion, and deception. As far as Neptune is concerned, we must embrace our psychic senses in order to discern the truth.
On May 24th, Saturn will join Neptune in Aries. Saturn will spend a shorter time here, however, re-entering Pisces on September 1st. Because of this, Saturn and Neptune will chase each other in the early degrees of Aries, never quite meeting up with one another. While they will certainly be close enough to be considered conjunct, the actual conjunction between these two won't happen until February 2026 - more on that at a closer date.

Unlike the outer planets who don't get assigned titles such as detriment or exaltation, Saturn does. The planet of time is considered to be in its fall in the first sign of the zodiac, as the opposite sign of its exaltation, Libra. One way to understand this is to consider that Saturn inherently points to the rules and systems and structures within a society, whereas Aries is the sign of the self or the individual. The two are focused on very different things, and Saturn struggles to express itself through the lens of the individual.
During the 3ish months that Saturn transits Aries, so, too, do we see a new chapter around Saturnian themes emerging alongside Neptune. For those who have their natal Saturn in Aries, this will be a window into your Saturn Return. For those with their natal Saturn in Pisces, they will get a temporary reprieve until September.
One other thing to consider with this changing of the guard is that Saturn and Neptune will harmonize with Pluto in Aquarius, as they will all be in tight orb with one another. There's some kind of connection in your lives wherever Pluto is hanging out, and wherever Saturn and Neptune are headed next. This isn't the first time we've had these planets harmonize, but it is a big change from the Earth and Water axis and onto the Air and Fire one. This energy is much lighter, certainly, and will be a palpable shift in the middle of the year, and certainly once Uranus temporarily joins Gemini in July. Not to be a broken record here, but this is a palpable change, and something to pay attention to. We are all on the brink of something entirely brand new in a BIG way that we haven't seen in a decade and a half.
Come late October when Saturn and Neptune are back in Pisces, we will return, albeit temporarily, to whatever Piscean chapter we left behind to tie up the loose ends that still exist. We will spend the rest of 2025 and the very early aughts of 2026 doing so. At which point will be fully immersed into something brand new. Though we will see Saturn in Pisces again, in about 28 years, we will not live to see Neptune here. Just as there is a finality with Pluto transits, there is a finality with Neptune, as it takes Neptune 165 years to orbit the Sun.
